In my interdisciplinary practice, I enjoy testing the limitations of conventional/traditional technique by combining styles to create unique and alluring works. This piece melds fibers, garment construction, screen printing, and metalsmithing. Soft, pliable fabric contrasts with the rigidity of metal jewelry that pushes the relationship between familiarity and comfort. This piece also uses iconic imagery to explore themes of femininity and gender identity. Ultimately, this piece is a reflection of my fascination with the ways in which art is used to explore and express the complexities of the human condition.
