Fabric, batting, and thread are my primary materials. Time is an important medium for me
through the repetitive, meditative, and often solitary act of hand stitching. When I sew, my past and future selves collapse into each other. Through intense reflection, my emotional experiences and cycles also become a material. I think about what it is to be messy, too sensitive, too much, too woman. Bleeding Practice is intended for myself to use every time I bleed, collecting evidence of my body’s uncontrollable processes over time. Mess embraces the scumminess of being alive in a body. I claim grossness.
