In this piece, I wanted to focus on my experience with preemptive grief, with feeling loss for something I know I’m going to lose soon, but that I still currently have. I created these almost memorials for some of my friends, because my relationships with them are what I know I am going to lose, they are what is going to change very soon. I reference Victorian era mourning practices, specifically through posing and keeping parts of the body, here that is hair, while blending in more modern aspects of each of their identities.
