Existence is resistance. This mantra is utilized by activists of color everywhere and is one of the many inspirations for my art. These mixed media canvases transform into pieces of permanence that empower and resist by incorporating themes of identity, autonomy, and defiance towards the oppressive structures in our world. Using art as a form of resistance these creations exhibit raw representations that are hyper-focused on flipping the heteronormative narrative by uplifting erased voices. Therefore, my work aims to incorporate transgressive identities and their experiences as star subjects.
