Designed to mend the fractured relationship between humans and the Earth, Blossom showcases the intricacy of the new material highlighting its major properties in a form that harmonizes with nature. The lamp’s shade is made from repurposed orange peels, creating a warm, natural glow. The cap is formed from pressure molded spent grain sourced from local Portland breweries, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability. Every component of the lamp structure is compostable, allowing it to return to the Earth with no trauma. This project had two stages of development; new material exploration and product design constrained/inspired by material qualities.
