Within many different histories, cultures, and backgrounds, death is viewed in a multitude of ways ranging from grief to celebration. By using a graphic quality within these two works, I found that illustration a graphic-like story provided a unique way to communicate emotional ties to the way we see both life and death. In this case, specifically using graphic qualities along with shifting movement, I wanted to have the visual elements of life and death interacting to bypass the traditional view of death as pure horror or grief by creating intertwined figures, both dancing and still.
