Disentangling the Guilt, 2020, ceramic and tin foil, 5.25 x 10 x 17 inches

In my work I seek to capture the interconnected nature of the world. The human society we live in hinges on connection – between individuals, social structures, government regulations, academic disciplines, and beyond – through which many things are inherently linked. I seek to tease out the sometimes invisible, other times conspicuous, web of ties that hold up the world where we live. Through identifying the connections that harm – those between policies and institutions that perpetuate oppression – and highlighting the human links that bolster and support, I seek to engage the material properties of clay to understand the world around us.
