I designed Splinter to be a user assembly piece of furniture focused around creating an accessible craft experience. Craft in the pacific northwest has been weakened by the closure of key institutions and growing disinterest to support the field. I want this chair and its unique connections to have users enjoy the process of making and spark interest into reevaluating the importance of craft today.
