I want to emphasize the appreciation for imperfection and nature by utilizing the wabi-sabi aesthetic and creating objects with a calming ambiance. Growing up in Japan and Oregon, I have been surrounded by wabi-sabi and nature, and would often see them in day-to-day objects. There was a certain sense of comfort I felt with things that showed its aging and flaws, as opposed to shiny new objects. I want to embrace this idea of the aesthetic appreciation of imperfections and transience and give the viewers a sense of comfort and peace within a space.
